Ellen Toay
A certified South Carolina real estate instructor, Ellen has a very diverse background in the industry. She first entered the field in Maryland in late 1979 and worked as a sales agent until 1983. As an active-duty military wife, she developed her own successful military relocation program. In 1983, she transitioned into opening and managing several real estate title company offices. She remained in that field until 1991 when she and her husband relocated to Fort Mill, SC where she found only attorneys were allowed to do closings in both North and South Carolina. So, for the next eight years, she acted as a mortgage loan originator. One of her tasks was teaching financing details to new real estate agents.
In 1998, she went back to school, got her broker’s license, and South Carolina instructor certification. She and her husband moved to the Myrtle Beach area in 2001, where she taught with Fortune Academy. Since then she has not only taught but has been a broker-in-charge for a branch office of a large company, served on the Board of Directors for CCAR for four years, and served as Dean of their leadership group for a year.
